Using Creator you can create text assets, change its styling, and add borders and drop shadows, all without leaving the headset. Dynamically place text at the right scale and distance that is comfortable to look at in any particular scene.
Outside of the headset, in SPIN Studio, you can also create, edit, and delete text assets from particular scenes.
Below is a guide to creating text assets in Creator, as well as in SPIN Studio.
The Text Panel:
To create a text asset, click the text asset panel button. With the text asset selected switch over to the inspector panel. Here you can alter any settings as you would any other graphic asset, with an extra button at the top that enters you into a mode to edit text style and content.
This opens up the window to edit text styles, such as text size, font weight, alignment, and color...
... as well as the ability to add a border and drop shadow to the text.
There are more properties to change in the text than available in the pallet. The table here lays out all the tags to add line breaks, tabs, and subscripts to your text: text properties table.
Whenever you make a text asset in Creator, the text asset will appear in SPIN Studio. A text asset is linked to a particular scene and will not appear in the list of other PNG and JPG graphics you might have added to the Story. To view text assets in a particular scene you have to select the scene in the Story list, then navigate to the inspector window on the right, where there is text menu. Here you can edit the text content, delete text assets, and even create new ones.
If you create a text asset in SPIN Studio you will have to refresh the Story in Creator to see it appear in the scene.
