An example quiz in Pixvana SPIN Play.
Quizzing is an important part of assessing how the end user is retaining information provided to them in an immersive training experience. This document will go over the steps that you will need to go through to create a quiz on the SPIN Studio platform.
The current feature capability of quizzing are:
- One question per scene
- Multiple choice, single-correct-answer
- Track User ID each time the experience is run
- Answers are submitted at the end of the experience
- Answers recorded and tracked as responses in SPIN Studio
- Compare aggregate responses or per-user responses
How to make a quiz in SPIN Studio
Go to SPIN Studio. Navigate to the Stories tab, and select a Story to add a quiz to.
Select the Quiz tab on the left hand side. The window should look like this:
Click "New question" and input your first question.
To the right of the question is a drop down menu of scenes. Select the drop down menu and choose the scene you would like to have this question and answers appear in.
Below each question type out possible answers to the question.
Next to the correct answer click the circle to give a green check. There can only be one correct answer per question.
- Keep questions and answers short, ideally no longer than 10 words. Both questions and answers will appear in a single line. Within the Creator you can add a line break to more cleanly fit the text into the viewing frame of the user.
- Make the text in your question bold, italics, or underlined with these tags.
Once you have made all your questions and answers, navigate to the Settings panel.
Here you are required to select a scene where the user will click a button to submit their answers. Up until this point none of the answers the end user has selected have been recorded as a response in SPIN Studio. If the user leaves halfway through the experience none of their answers will be recorded. Only once they click the submit button are their answers preserved as responses.
On the settings page you also have the option to require a User ID. When this option is turned on the user is required to enter an ID at the beginning of the first scene. Their User ID will then correlate to their responses. Otherwise, responses are anonymous, only differentiated by the time of their submission.
At this point you are done creating the quiz in SPIN Studio.
Pair an Oculus Rift (+S) or Oculus Quest to the Story and enter the Creator to begin refining the quiz in-headset. Follow this guide to get started editing the Story in-headset. Additionally, this video illustrates the entire interactivity creation process, including quick bits on adjusting the appear and placement of a quiz.
When the quiz is completed, it will look something like this in-headset.
After they finish taking the Quiz by hitting the submit responses button, the user is presented with how many of the questions they got correct.
Upon completion the users' responses will be tracked and visualized in SPIN Studio within the same Story where the quiz was initially created. navigate to the Results tab to view responses.
One option is to view results by session. A session is the experience up to and including the point when the user submits their answers.
The other option is to view by question. View aggregate responses to get a birds-eye view of how all users did on the quizzes.
All answers submitted through SPIN Play or spinxr.com will be collected here.
